The Weekly Recap 5/2/25: LSI Alumni Achievements Driving Medtech and Healthtech Forward

Weekly Recap 16_9 - 05.02.2025

In a successful week for the medical technology companies in the LSI Alumni community, we saw LSI Alumni secure over $35M in new funding, receive FDA 510(k) clearance, expand product lines, and much more on the road to LSI Asia ‘25 in Singapore (June 10-13).

Annaida Technologies

Closed an oversubscribed Pre-Series A round to advance its micro-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (micro-MRS) platform for non-invasive embryo analysis. Annaida Technologies will use the funding to accelerate product development and expand market presence in fertility and life sciences, with its Embryospin platform already adopted in top academic labs worldwide.

Azalea Vision

Raised €9M in the first closing of its €15M Series A to advance its intelligent ocular health platform and support a first-in-human pilot clinical trial. Azalea Vision also appointed eyecare industry leader Robert J. Dempsey as Chairman of the Board to guide strategic growth in the United States and Europe.

Bimini Health Tech

Expanded its Essence ADM™ line with the industry’s largest human acellular dermal matrix sheets and added new thickness options to enhance surgical customization. The updated portfolio reflects Bimini Health Tech’s commitment to surgeon-driven innovation and personalized solutions for soft tissue support.

CorWave

Completed six-month in vivo studies of its implantable LVAD, demonstrating reliable pump performance, thromboresistance, and zero device failures—marking the final stage of preclinical development. CorWave is now preparing for its first-in-human clinical trial to bring its self-adaptive, smart heart pump to patients with heart failure.

Innitius

Received IRB approval to initiate a pivotal international clinical study evaluating the safety and predictive accuracy of Cervisense TPTL, a novel diagnostic tool designed to improve diagnosis in women with symptoms of threatened preterm labor (TPTL). The study will enroll over 450 patients across leading hospitals in Spain and Germany, advancing Innitius’ mission to improve outcomes in maternal health.

NeuroSigma

Announced a new clinical trial evaluating the Monarch eTNS System for treating ADHD symptoms in children with fetal alcohol syndrome, led by Professor Joseph O’Neill of UCLA and funded by a grant from the NIAAA. The two-year trial aims to address a major treatment gap in this underserved population with a non-drug neuromodulation approach.

Sonavex

Received FDA 510(k) clearance for EchoMap™, a 3D ultrasound device designed to help dialysis technicians visualize arteriovenous access sites without prior ultrasound experience. By combining AI algorithms with intuitive imaging, EchoMap aims to reduce cannulation complications and improve safety and confidence in hemodialysis care.

Spark Biomedical

Raised $15M in Series A funding to expand the development of non-invasive, drug-free neurostimulation therapies targeting neurological health, hemostasis, and women’s health. Spark Biomedical’s wearable technology delivers targeted vagus and trigeminal nerve stimulation to address complex conditions with bioelectronic precision.

SurgiBox

Announced a strategic partnership with BestBrick Medical to distribute its portable surgical environment technology in Taiwan. The collaboration will accelerate SurgiBox’s expansion across the Asia-Pacific region and improve access to safe surgical care in both routine and emergency settings.

Transverse Medical

Secured over $10M in a Series B2 round to support clinical validation and development of the POINT-GUARD™ Cerebral Embolic Protection (CEP) device for full-brain protection during TAVR procedures. The financing enables Transverse Medical to expand operations and advance toward pivotal trials and FDA IDE submission.

VitVio

Appointed LSI Alumni Joe Mullings to its Advisory Board, bringing decades of medtech talent and strategic leadership expertise to support VitVio’s mission. Mullings’ deep industry insight and broad influence will help guide the company as it transforms surgical care through automation and workflow optimization.
