In a successful week for the medical technology companies in the LSI Alumni community, we saw LSI Alumni receive new funding, achieve regulatory approvals, strengthen board leadership, launch partnerships, and much more on the road to LSI USA ‘27 in Dana Point (March 15 - 19).
Welcomed LSI Alumni Mark Toland to its Board of Directors, bringing more than 30 years of medical device leadership experience, including nearly 20 years at Boston Scientific. Toland has a proven track record of scaling medtech platforms and achieving successful exits with a combined transaction value exceeding $2B.
Completed the first successful implantation of a fully 3D-bioprinted regenerative implant in a live large-animal model at Colorado State University. Brinter’s technology combines a proprietary multi-material 3D bioprinting platform with resorbable biomaterials to create regenerative implants designed to provide mechanical support while enabling tissue integration and the body’s natural healing processes.
Appointed Roel van Wegberg and LSI Alumni Luc Starmans as Managing Partners, succeeding co-founders Casper Bruens and Marcel Kloosterman. Starmans will continue leading the health team and its investments across medtech, healthtech, and life sciences, while van Wegberg will retain his CFO responsibilities, overseeing fund operations, governance, and investor reporting.
Appointed Anne Lange as Chair of the Board of Directors, bringing entrepreneurial experience and a background at Cisco. Lange founded Mentis and currently serves on the boards of Pernod Ricard, Orange, and Peugeot Invest.
Published peer-reviewed data with Weill Cornell Medicine demonstrating stable brain signals from its cortical surface electrodes for more than four years, with 63 of 64 electrode contacts continuing to deliver meaningful signals. The electrodes rest on the brain’s surface without entering brain tissue, and the complete Brain Interchange system was safely removed after nine months in a human stroke study at the University of Washington.
Secured a term loan facility of up to $70M with Perceptive Advisors to support continued U.S. market expansion and development of the DEXTER® Robotic Surgery System and its instrument portfolio. DEXTER features a compact, mobile design and flexible surgical and supply chain workflows, enabling ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) to adopt robotic surgery while supporting operational efficiency and growth.
Received FDA 510(k) clearance for FFR-IQ™, its software for noninvasive estimation of fractional flow reserve from coronary CT angiography (FFR-CT). The software introduces BioIntegrated FFR-CT, incorporating coronary anatomy and plaque composition to support individualized assessment of coronary physiology and more precise treatment decisions.
Closed an oversubscribed financing round totaling SEK 88M, primarily subscribed through a directed share issue by Cradle Growth and the EIC Fund, alongside a rights issue for existing shareholders. The financing will be completed in two tranches, with approximately 50% of the capital paid upon closing and the remainder invested following FDA clearance of the product in the U.S.
Published full results from its SPIRARE II pivotal trial evaluating the Vertex™ Thrombectomy System in patients with acute, intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism in EuroIntervention. The trial met all primary and secondary endpoints at 48 hours, with sustained symptom improvement through 30 days in a patient population with elevated clinical severity.
Received CE marking for its Methinks Ischemia product. Methinks Ischemia analyzes non-contrast imaging to identify suspected acute ischemic infarcts and estimate the ischemic tissue visible on the plain CT scan already taken in nearly every stroke work-up.
Announced a collaboration with Siemens Healthineers to develop an end-to-end multimodal imaging workflow for implantable BCIs, combining Siemens Healthineers’ medical imaging expertise with Paradromics’ clinical and technical expertise in BCIs. The integrated approach will support the continuum of BCI care, from patient candidacy assessment and surgical planning to intraoperative navigation, post-implant localization, neural validation, and outcomes assessment.
Received CE marking for ECLIPSIUM®, its solution for atraumatic mesh fixation in ventral hernia repair. ECLIPSIUM is CE-marked for the non-penetrating fixation of composite meshes to soft tissue for the repair of ventral hernias performed via a minimally invasive intraperitoneal approach, which paves the way for its commercialization in Europe.
Secured up to $11M in growth financing from Wells Fargo. The new capital gives TJO the resources to accelerate a series of growth initiatives over the coming months, including expanded implant inventory and instrument sets, broader sales channel coverage, and continued investment in its next-generation implant pipeline.
Closed an $8.4M seed round, led by Playground Global, with participation from Eka Ventures, to advance its platform through regulatory pathways in the U.K., Europe, and the U.S. Alongside the seed round, LSI Alumni Omar Ishrak has joined the company as Chair of its Board of Directors.
Raised $36M in financing led by Catalio Capital Management, with participation from existing partner Baheal. The funds will be used to expand the deployment of ZAP-X across academic medical centers, community hospitals, and physician-led practices, while increasing manufacturing capacity to meet demand.
