In a successful week for the medical technology companies in the LSI Alumni community, we saw LSI Alumni receive new funding, launch products, achieve regulatory approvals, and much more on the road to LSI USA ‘27 in Dana Point (March 15–19).
Raised £3.2M in new funding, co-led by Macmillan Ventures and Hargreave Hale AIM VCT, alongside existing investors and a grant from Innovate UK’s Investor Partnerships program. The funding will support clinical validation, regulatory progression, and preparations to introduce NeutrocheckⓇ to the UK market.
Closed a Series B financing led by Relevance Ventures to support the completion of its ongoing U.S. RESTORE-1 pilot study. The funding will also support operational preparations to initiate a planned U.S. pivotal trial evaluating its investigational Proximal Intestinal Mucosal Ablation (PIMA) procedure for type 2 diabetes, subject to regulatory authorization.
Entered into an agreement to be acquired by Terumo Neuro, bringing together Arsenal Medical’s biomaterials platform and Terumo Neuro’s global leadership in neurovascular care. The proposed acquisition would add NeoCast™, Arsenal Medical’s investigational next-generation liquid embolic technology for the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma, to Terumo Neuro’s neurovascular portfolio.
Launched DermaSensor™ commercially in Germany through a distribution agreement with ContraCare GmbH, marking the company’s first European commercial launch. The launch follows DermaSensor’s recent Class IIb CE Mark under the European Union Medical Device Regulation and its ongoing collaboration with the UK’s NHS.
Launched OCTOPi™, an integrated all-suture fixation construct system purpose-built for hand and wrist surgery. Available in 1.4mm, 1.7mm, and 2.4mm sizes, the system combines three interoperable constructs, OCTOBridge™, OCTOExtend™, and OCTOAnchor™, which can be used independently or in combination depending on the demands of the repair and indications for use.
Closed an oversubscribed pre-seed financing round led by Alamo Angels to advance its technology through its next regulatory milestones and continue building the foundation for commercialization. The company has completed its product build and clinical testing, including the ERICA clinical study at the University of Utah, and is now preparing its FDA submission and for commercial release following FDA clearance.
Extended its total funding raised to $20M, including a recent $9.3M round from NPIF II – PXN Equity Finance, follow-on funding through Mercia, and new investment from Unorthodox Ventures. The funding will support continued U.S. growth, expansion into new international markets, and the extension of its surgical simulation technology to additional surgical specialties.
Was awarded an A$1M grant through AUScelerate’s Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA), supported by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF). The funding will support the company’s work to advance pediatric vascular access technology, with the aim of preventing cardiovascular complications arising from central catheter procedures.
Appointed Liam Kelly as CEO, effective October 1, 2026, succeeding LSI Alumni Olivier Taelman. Kelly brings more than 25 years of leadership experience and previously served as Chairman, President, and CEO of Teleflex, where he led the company as President and CEO from January 2018 until January 2026.
Received FDA 510(k) clearance for the FreeClimbⓇ 46 catheter with TenzingⓇ 4, expanding the company’s portfolio of advanced neurovascular catheters. The integrated system is designed to provide neurovascular access and expands Route 92 Medical’s catheter technologies to support navigation into smaller and more distal vessels.
Received FDA 510(k) clearance for the iFuse Granite Onyx™ System, the company’s first product addressing compromised bone intended for use outside the pelvis. The system is designed to address loosening at the upper and lower instrumented vertebrae of a spinal fusion construct, particularly for patients with low bone density.
Closed the oversubscribed Sofinnova MD Start IV fund at €82M to expand its medtech company-creation strategy across Europe and the U.S. The fund plans to launch six to eight new medtech companies over the next five years and support them from inception through key clinical and operational milestones.
Appointed LSI Alumni Daniel Hawkins as Chairman of its Board of Directors as the company enters its next phase of clinical and strategic growth. Hawkins, the founder and former CEO of Shockwave Medical, will work closely with LSI Alumni Bart Bandy, CEO, and the Board as Solenic advances SOLA-2™ through pivotal clinical evaluation and executes its broader strategic priorities.
Appointed Russ Mably as CEO to lead the company through its next phase of international growth, expanding access to STIMVIA’s personalized neuromodulation platform. Founder Lukáš Doskočil will transition to Founder & Chief Product Officer, where he will lead product strategy, technology development, and the advancement of STIMVIA’s next-generation neuromodulation platform.
Added Mitria Medical to its portfolio, marking T45 Labs’ first entry into structural heart innovation. T45 Labs will support Mitria across product development, financing, operations, and clinical and regulatory strategy as the company advances its investigational Subvalvular Spacer (SVS) therapy for functional mitral regurgitation.
Launched OmniShape, its next-generation fiber optic shape sensing system and the company’s first platform designed specifically for OEM applications. The platform provides real-time 3D spatial data with update rates of up to 150 Hz and support for TSSC sensors up to 2.0 meters in length and is now available in limited quantities for OEM evaluation and development.
