The Weekly Recap 6/26/26: LSI Alumni Achievements Driving Medtech and Healthtech Forward

In a successful week for the medical technology companies in the LSI Alumni community, we saw LSI Alumni receive new funding, receive regulatory approvals, achieve clinical milestones, and much more on the road to LSI Asia ‘26 in Singapore (June 30 - July 2).

Access Vascular

Entered into a partnership with Medline to bring its next-generation vascular access catheters to hospitals across the U.S. The agreement will accelerate the commercialization of the HydroMID^® and HydroPICC^® catheters, which use the company’s proprietary hydrogel technology and are designed to reduce thrombosis, occlusion, and hospital-acquired infections.

Azalea Vision

Selected by the EIC Accelerator for blended finance support, with access to a €2.5M grant and expected €5M equity participation from the EIC Fund in its next financing round. The company is building a medical-grade smart lens platform that brings together adaptive optics, embedded microelectronics, liquid-crystal systems, and connectivity inside a contact lens format.

CardioMech

Appointed LSI Alumni Ramin Mousavi as Chairman of the Board, effective immediately. Mousavi is a seasoned medtech executive with leadership experience across cardiovascular, structural heart, and neurovascular, holding senior leadership positions at Baxter International, CathWorks, and Edwards Lifesciences.

ChamberTech

Welcomed Dr. John Silberbauer as its Chief Medical Officer, following his significant contributions to the company’s preclinical studies and technology development. A Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Sussex Cardiac Centre, Silberbauer is internationally recognized for his expertise in complex ablation and epicardial procedures, including pioneering the EpiCO₂ insufflation technique for epicardial access.

Cosm Medical

Received $2.4M from Ontario's Life Sciences Scale-Up Fund as part of its $7.4M investment to advance and scale up production of the world’s first digital platform for personalized gynecological supportive medical devices. Leveraging advanced 3D printing and digital health technologies, the company’s products aim to personalize treatment for pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence, alongside improving how women recover from surgery and childbirth, enhancing clinical outcomes and patient experience.

CroíValve

Closed a $20M Series B expansion financing alongside $7M in EIC and DTIF grant funding, bringing the total Series B financing to $36M and total funding including grants to $43M. The round included new investors BGF and EIC, participation from existing investors, including MedTech Syndicates, and the appointment of Tim Rea of BGF to the company’s Board of Directors.

HistoSonics

Closed a new financing round with participation from Reed Jobs and Yosemite, along with several new strategic investors. The proceeds will support continued commercial expansion, clinical development, regulatory initiatives, and advancement of its non-invasive histotripsy platform as adoption grows for liver tumors and additional solid tumor applications.

illumicell AI

Placed second in the finals of Season 9 of Meet the Drapers, winning a $500K investment from LSI Alumni Tim Draper. The company is building live-cell, label-free diagnostics that make biology machine-readable from the start.

LEM Surgical

Received its second FDA 510(k) clearance for Next-Generation Humanoid Robotic Surgical System. The Dynamis Robotic Surgical System is an integrated, navigation-based robotic platform engineered to enhance intraoperative accuracy, control, and clinical predictability. 

Nanoflex Robotics

Awarded €12.5M in funding from the EIC to bring magnetic endovascular robotics to patients. The funding will take the company through clinical validation toward CE marking in Europe and its first commercial release, on the path to remote, teleoperated intervention for time-critical endovascular care.

Ossio

Entered into an exclusive distribution deal with OrthoPediatrics to bring its metal-free OSSIOfiber^® implants to children’s hospitals nationwide. Based on a revolution in biomaterial science, OSSIOfiber implants are gradually incorporated into the patient’s bone after performing their fixation function, leaving nothing permanent behind after about two years post-implantation. 

Reach Orthopaedics

Selected as the winner of the Female Founders Showcase at Atlantic Venture Forum. The company is developing a minimally invasive, joint-preserving shoulder implant designed to treat massive irreparable rotator cuff tears by stabilizing the humeral head, restoring range of motion, improving function, and reducing chronic pain.

Solenic Medical

Received FDA IDE approval to initiate a pivotal clinical trial of the SOLA-2™ Alternating Magnetic Field System in patients with periprosthetic joint infections. SOLA-2 leverages the company’s proprietary AMF technology to precisely heat the outer surface of metallic implants and disrupt bacterial biofilms, the underlying driver of implant infections, avoiding implant removal.

Spiro Robotics

Received FDA 510(k) clearance for Spiro-VISTA, the first handheld dual image-guided platform for tracheal intubation. The clearance authorizes the system as an aid in placing endotracheal tubes during both non-difficult and difficult adult tracheal intubations in hospital settings, with an initial commercial launch underway at select academic medical centers and high-acuity hospitals.

Willow Laboratories

Welcomed Dr. Jill Biden, Ken Buck, and Said Hilal to its Board of Directors. The appointments bring together leaders with decades of experience spanning education, healthcare, business, public policy, and community engagement as the company continues to expand its portfolio of health technologies designed to empower healthier lives through prevention, early intervention, and personalized care.
