Petal Surgical announced today a new financing led by Blue Pool Capital, with participation from Salience Capital, A&E Investments, TIME Ventures, and existing investors including Actions Capital (formerly K50 Ventures).
The financing follows continued preclinical progress as the company advances its incisionless surgery platform toward first-in-human studies.
For decades, surgery has relied on cutting, burning, or mechanically manipulating tissue to treat disease. Despite significant advances in surgical tools and robotics, the fundamental constraints of surgery have remained largely unchanged. Petal is developing a new category of incisionless surgery based on acoustic liquefaction, enabled by a proprietary form of histotripsy called Millisecond Pulse Histotripsy. The system combines advances in biophysics and Physical AI to enable targeted tissue treatment without incisions, thermal damage, or toxic energy delivery.
No cuts. No burns. No toxicity. Then the body heals naturally.
Over the past few years, Petal has been working on precise and reproducible tissue treatment using its Millisecond Pulse Histotripsy platform, while further integrating robotics, imaging, and AI-driven controls into its platform architecture. The new capital will be used to accelerate research and development, expand clinical readiness activities, and support the company’s path toward human trials.
“We invest in innovative market leaders who have bigger ambitions than incremental change,” said Christopher Wu, Chief Investment Officer at Blue Pool Capital. “In Petal we see a big opportunity to change and improve healthcare, beginning with incisionless surgery.”
Since emerging from stealth in October 2025, Petal has seen growing interest from clinicians, investors, and potential strategic collaborators around incisionless approaches to interventional care.
“Petal is a unique mission that is solving hard problems in biophysics using physical AI,” said Lip-Bu Tan, CEO of Intel and Petal Surgical investor, “we are excited about its potential to completely redefine our expectations of surgical outcomes.”
Petal believes incisionless surgery represents a foundational shift in interventional care - enabling treatments that are safer, less traumatic, and more broadly accessible.

The company has raised capital from Actions Capital (formerly K50 Ventures), TSVC, Shang Bay Capital, and Dr. Frederic H. Moll. Subsequent financings were led by Blue Pool Capital, with participation from Salience Capital, A&E Investments, Draper Associates, Fong’s Family Foundation, TIME Ventures, and existing investors.
Petal was founded by Prash Chopra, an image-guided surgery engineer; Dr. Bowen Jiang, neurosurgeon; Dr. Nicholas Theodore, pioneer of robotic-assisted spine surgery; and Rony Abovitz, founder of MAKO Surgical and Magic Leap. The company was later joined by Dr. Frederic H. Moll, founder of Intuitive Surgical and Auris Health.
Petal is advancing a future where surgery becomes incisionless through advances in biophysics and Physical AI.
